Avocado Purchasing Data
Our data shows that there is a distinct difference in price for Organic Vs. Conventional avocados. Our analysis of the data shows that conventional avocados cost an average of $1.60 across all regions with a standard deviation of $0.26. Thusly, organic avocados cost $1.65 on average with a standard deviation of $0.36, organic avocados have a high production cost and greater labor factor than conventional avocados.
In looking at the volume of avocados sold, organic avocados only account for approximately 3 percent of all avocados sold in the U.S. During the period of January 2015 and March 2018, consumers bought over 33 million conventional avocados and just under one million organic avocados. That’s a lot of avocados!
